A training workshop for women who seek to unlock their storytelling potential, build confidence, and share timeless tales with authenticity and impact.

Carrying the Tale is an immersive online training workshop designed for women passionate about storytelling, whether they are seasoned narrators or just beginning their journey.

 

This workshop explores the importance of telling timeless tales, with a focus on myths and folktales, and equips participants with the skills to carry and share these stories authentically in both group and private settings.

Throughout this online workshop, participants will:

    •    Explore How to View a Story from a Mythologist’s Perspective: Gain an understanding of the historical and cultural significance of oral traditions, emphasizing the role of women in preserving and transmitting these narratives.

    •    Learn to Carry a Story: Discover techniques to internalize and embody stories without the need for memorization, allowing for spontaneous and heartfelt retellings that integrate the wisdom of these tales into daily life.

    •    Create and Hold Space for Storytelling: Develop the ability to open and close storytelling sessions effectively, fostering a safe and reflective environment for listeners.
 

    •    Enhance Storytelling Skills: Refine delivery techniques, build confidence, and uncover your unique storytelling voice through practical exercises and supportive feedback.
 

    •    Extra One-on-One Practice Session: Benefit from a personalized 30-minute private session with the facilitator to practice storytelling in an intimate setting, scheduled at your convenience.

About Your Facilitator

Maria Souza

Maria Souza is a Comparative Mythologist, Poet and Educator. Maria is the author of the mythopoetic book Wild Daughters and is a member of the Joseph Campbell Foundation Myth Maker Network. She is the host of the podcast Women and Mythology in which she shares and interprets myths and fairy tales. Maria has been delivering programs on mythology since 2016.​
